Singing Mastermind Story

“If you add a little to a little, and then do it again, soon that little shall be much.” – Hesiod, a Greek poet from the 8th century B.C.

Singing Mastermind started like a slow-cooking pot of soup

Yes, a slow-cooking pot of soup sitting on the far corner of an old wood stove in Alaska, believe it or not!

In my log cabin in Alaska, where I lived for many years (and cooked on a wood stove), I realized that the internet might someday give me a way to give professional singing voice lessons to people who lived in places where there were no voice teachers. I wanted to help those who otherwise might never have the opportunity to experience the joy of discovering that they could learn to sing…even if they thought they were tone deaf.

I had already helped a lot of people with their voices, including a Miss America contestant, Grammy-nominated songwriters, students, attorneys, nurses, teachers and many others and realized how big the need was for providing professional singing lessons to people who simply did not live near a qualified voice teacher.

Stirring it up in Los Angeles

After I moved back to Los Angeles, where I had grown up and been hailed as a “child prodigy” by the Los Angeles Times, I worked with an amazing Grammy Award winning, Emmy nominated songwriter, Michael Silversher, and began to read as much neuroscience research as I could find that related to how musical ear training in early childhood impacted the ability of babies and toddlers to sing on pitch later in life, and how that same training impacted their overall language development. It turned out that they could match musical pitches as early as 3-4 months old and that their language skills could be enhanced in a significant way.

So I developed SingBabySing® and collaborated with Michael on the first CD.   I knew that if I could influence voice training starting at the earliest stages of development, I could make it easier for people to learn to sing better later in life too.

I brought the soup pot to the front of the stove

As I worked with Michael on other projects, including Gathering Blue, the Musical and several songs we wrote together, I began to post videos on YouTube with singing tips using my SingBabySing YouTube channel.  I had not yet built this site, though,  I was just experimenting at first and was one of the first people to post singing tips on YouTube.

It was great.  People from all over the world got help and liked my wacky kind of teaching style.  It was then that I realized people truly needed the knowledge I had and that I could definitely help them with their voices, so I started working on this Singing Mastermind site.

Now, I’m not an IT person so I had to figure out all sorts of technical things and that was not very fun for me, but I did it because I live and breathe to help people with their voice and I believe that YOU DESERVE TO HEARD and that professional singing lessons should also be affordable singing lessons.

What ingredients to add now?

Now I am working very hard to bring those singing lessons to you in a systematic way so that you can get the help you need and deserve.

So I keep adding ingredients, stirring the pot and dishing out as many bowls of soup as I can. Maybe you’ll be the next one to grab a spoon and dig in! I know it’s corny, but there you have it!
